Aren't we all prisoners?

Aren't we all prisoners?

Prisoners of time?

How nothing seems to change

From one day to another,

And yet when you look back

after months or a year,

It doesn't seem to be the same?

Oh, Wait.

Don't get me wrong here.

The very sights and scenes are familiar,

But the people who shared those days and laughter,

seemed to have...disappeared?

Aren't we all prisoners?

Prisoners of our memories?

Do you remember?

the evening skies, and the twinkling stars,

Of pockets of stillness spread afar.

Or

The cool breeze and the sound of the stream,

As you walked along the narrow street.

Or

Reminiscing the days, and finding solace,

When you see a happy face.

Or

The smile that unknowingly forms,

Seeing pictures that your room wall adorns.

Aren't we all prisoners?

Prisoners of our own thoughts?

How at times,

We let ourselves be defined,

By those who know us the least.

Fighting battles that are not meant to be fought,

Undoing and unlearning, that needs to be not.

We are all prisoners,

Caged by ourselves, more than that by others.

But trust you me,

And you too shall agree,

That only you can stop yourself,

From doing what you truly believe in.

They say things take the time they take,

Till then, do what you can before you can do what you want to.

And don't be harsh on yourself, there's just one of you!

One Such Day :)

Some August 2K15 8-9 am: after greeting the members of the house and attending to the utmost important morning getting-out-of-bed “tasks”, I ask mom (like I usually do, day after day) “how are the cats?”. "They were asking for you” she says. Couldn't guess the satirical hint in her reply, I cheerily go out to see them. “meow” I say on finding them half- asleep under the cooler stand. They look at me with equitably mix of bewilderment and adorableness ( or disapproval, idk). It strangely occurs to me that cats, dogs and other non homo sapiens never come about saying “hellos & byes” to us. What then makes me (us) do a bowbow or meow seeing them. That must be hilarious and a source of all-sort-of-confusion for them. Taking a mental note of it, I've promised myself that I'll stick to my hello and what do you plan to do for the day, and let them meow and purr for themselves & then humanly code it for some sort of an answer to feed my queries :D 11ish am: What...

What a Day it has been !!

A s I sit here  on my bed , soaking up the free Wi-Fi  at hostel, eating all that I can possibly find in my room and listening to the DJ being played outside(diwali night),  I’m reflecting on how happy I am. B USY , but happy!  The day started as  usual   with a class at 8 am in the morning( I don't sulk anymore) because 8am classes are now a part of my daily routine. There isn't a day this semester that doesn't starts at 8. The next class was cancelled so I thought to make the most out of it, instead of ideally sitting in the sun or roaming in the college  corridors  I decided to come back to hostel so that I could give the diyas to my hostel manager, for we had a function tonight, which we thought of providing under ENACTUS(  non profit org. and a community of students, leaders & thereby using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a more sustainable world), that would be  officially  st...

Don't let the days define you!

People have been asking me “what are your plans?” and it occurred to me that from the past few months, I’ve really not given a thought to it because things have been happening *themselves*.  It feels that I don’t have a say or an authority to dictate anything to anyone or anybody. And as I sit, I feel that it is not something new, it had happened before and it’s happening now. So what has really changed? There have been days when you’re stressed, or you’re tired, or you didn’t sleep well the night before, or you got into a fight with your best friend, or with your parents, or you ate too much, or you forgot to wish your relatives a happy birthday, or your roommate used your stuff without asking, or the PG food is horrible, or the food at your nearest place is not worth eating, or you spilled hot coffee down your shirt, or the traffic saps the life outta you, or the wi-fi tests your patience, or it suddenly rained when you were least prepared, or you lost your debit card, or you...
